Responsibilities
The Algonquin Township Road District is currently responsible for the maintenance of over 55 certified miles of roadways. This includes over 225 streets and 50 culs-de-sac.
A crew of nine (9) employees handles all maintenance, which includes, but is not limited to, sweeping of streets, drainage (within right of ways), signage, patching, berm repairs (grading, mowing, guard rails), Township facilities (5 buildings), inspections of all contracted services (paving and reconstruction projects), and winter snow and ice control.

Snowplowing
Plow and apply ice control to township-maintained roads

Road Maintenance
Maintain, resurface, patch, and repair township roads, shoulders, and ditches

Rights-of-Way
Maintain township rights-of-way, including the removal of debris, trash, and dead animals

Road Signs
Maintain, repair, and replace more than 800 warning, informational, and regulatory signs and posts

Culverts
Install and maintain township culverts

Street Sweeping
Street sweep township roads

Street Lighting

Tree Trimming & Removal
Trim and remove trees and branches that interfere with safe vehicle operation and/or visibility, including the removal of fallen or damaged tree limbs from roadways

Traffic Accident Assistance
Assist law enforcement and first responders after accidents to return roadways to safe conditions
Motor Fuel Tax Distribution
Assist with Motor Fuel Tax distribution
Brush Pickup
Provide brush pick up by request
Specialized Recycling
Host a specialized recycling event once a month, April—October

Permitting
Issue permits for driveways, culverts, right-of-way improvements, new utility installation, and overweight and/or oversized vehicles

The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System
The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program, created in 1972 by the Clean Water Act (CWA), helps address water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants to waters of the United States. The Algonquin Township Highway Department has an NPDES program, which is viewable. We all value our beautiful environment, and the Highway Department continues its commitment to making sure Algonquin Township is a beautiful place to live.

Fare Cost
- $3 one way per person
- $6 round trip per person
- $3 for any additional stops per person
Due to rising fuel costs, the cost of the shuttle has increased to $3.00 each way, including additional stops.

New Riders

Guidelines
- The bus operates within township boundaries and is curb-to-curb.
- Doctor’s appointments may be scheduled up to 30 days in advance.
- All other appointments can be scheduled up to 7 days in advance.
- All rides must be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours in advance, including extra stops. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance with the exception being an emergency.
- The bus will only wait for 10 minutes.
- There is a 30-minute window for pick up and drop off times.
- Purchases made should not exceed what you can carry and keep in your seat.
- We will try to accommodate same day requests.
- Be kind and courteous to the bus driver and other riders.
- No standing while the bus is in motion.
- No open food or drinks.
- No smoking.

I oversee day to day operations, along with running the tree crew and managing our street sign program. While not tending to the Township, I enjoy golf, fishing, and disc golf.

I am the famous pink plow truck driver! I love this job as there’s never a boring day. My goal is to have the cleanest streets in the Township. A little about me… I’ve been married since 2014, have 3 step kids, 3 grandkids, and 2 awesome rescue dogs, Trig and Ace. I spend any extra time I have working in my yard.
