Building a Better Community

Algonquin Township Highway Department’s main function is to maintain Township roads that are not located within any village boundaries. We are responsible for resurfacing, patching, and snow plowing more than 55 miles of township roads.

Where necessary, we provide lighting at major intersections. Our crews are also kept busy repairing and replacing the more than 800 road signs throughout the township.

The Algonquin Township Highway Department stands ready to help non-dedicated subdivisions in all legal ways. Advice, some engineering support, technical assistance, and encouragement are available through the Township or the County on request by subdivisions that wish to upgrade their roads.

Thanks to Amvet Post 245, over 1,000 flags were respectfully retired.

Our electronics recycling program kept 72,987 lbs of electronics out of the landfills.

🌨️ Snow is on the way this weekend — with 3–5 inches expected from Saturday through Sunday! 🌨️With the impending snowfall, the Algonquin Township Road District’s Snow/No Parking Ordinance will be in effect:🚫 No parking on roadways between 2:00 AM – 6:00 AM🚫 No parking during any snowfall of 2" or morePlease remove all vehicles from the roadway to ensure our crews can safely and efficiently clear the streets. Our team will be out Saturday and possibly into Sunday working to keep roads safe and passable.❗ A few important reminders:• It is prohibited to shovel or blow snow into the street.• When clearing the end of your driveway closest to the road, shovel the snow to the right side of your driveway (as you face the street). This is the side where the snowplow will push snow, helping prevent snow from being moved back into the area you've already cleared.Thank you for your cooperation as we prepare for the first significant snowfall of the season. Stay safe and drive with caution! ❄️🚗 ... See MoreSee Less
